2013 brought from sweet new abilities to the iPhone and iPad as described in our Best Apps of 2013 post. Now we’ll take a look at the best games of the year. All our selections had to be released in 2013, although some great updates also hit this year. You can check those updates out here.
Asphalt 8 – Airborne
Asphalt 8 – Airborne is the most fun racing game racing game we’ve played on iOS of late. Maybe the best iPhone and iPad racing game of all time. Even more amazing is that it’s free. If you want to do some crazy driving stunts, definitely pick this one up.
Super Stickman Golf 2
The Super Stickman Golf games have ruled the App Store for years as the best golf experience. While not entirely realistic, the games present a nice challenge, crazy courses, good controls, and memorable music. 2013 saw the release of Super Stickman Golf 2 which has asynchronous multiplayer and sweet power-ups.
While Subway Surfers has held a place on our great games list, Stampede Run (Originally Running with Friends) has upped the ante with asynchronous multiplayer and equally fun gameplay. If you want to remove ads, there are paid versions available here: iPhone and iPad
BADLAND is a neat scrolling platformer that took the mobile game-world by storm. Take this flying furry little guy and his friends/clones through multiple levels without harming them. The game has been updated many times throughout the year with new levels and won numerous awards along the way.
Robot Unicorn Attack 2
Robot Unicorn Attack is back in the amazing sequel that will take you back in time to the glory of the 1980’s. In a hilarious way, Robot Unicorn Attack 2 brings back all the 80’s fantasy and music you’ll remember. And the gameplay is totally rad in its own right!
That’s it for 2013. If you’re more interested in apps, check out our Best iPhone and iPad Apps of 2013 guide.
