Workflow – Make your iPhone your automated personal assistant
Automation is the ability to carry out a complex series of steps with one simple press of a button. This is the entire point of computers, and now even our mobile devices. In fact, we expect them to work this way; automatically executing processes while we sit back and enjoy our coffee. Each of our apps do this for us all the time. A simple example is how Instagram will go fetch our friends latest pictures each time the app is opened. Yet, the dream is to be able to build our own commands that tell our iPhones what to do and when we want to do it. Enter Workflow by DeskConnect.
Workflow is an amazing app that will thrill anyone who loves automation. Imagine automatically calling a friend just by tapping an icon on your home screen. How about instantly creating an animated GIF from some photos on your phone? Then there is the ability to compose one email to a bunch of friends with each receiving a personally addressed greeting. Or how would you like to choose anyone’s address in your phonebook and immediately see a Google Street View image of their house? All of this is possible with Workflow. But thats just scratching the surface of what you can do with this app. There are tons of pre-built workflows to use and the app lets you build your own automation creations through a beautiful mix-and-match interface. So Workflow will be a different app to everyone, depending on what you want to use it for. Workflows can be run right from the app or from within other apps as extensions. Learn more about app extensions and how to enable them in this post [Link]. Additionally, you can do it all from your Apple Watch. Granted, not every type of action is supported, but most are. Its really amazing to see all of this taking place on the watch screen.

Here are some of our favorite workflows courtesy of workflowgallery.co. These download links will only work if you first have the Workflow app installed on your iPhone or iPad.
- Get contact’s Street View image

Help please. I am running the workflows for daily text and Apple Watch. But the daily text keeps repeating “watchtower online library”. It is not reading me the daily text.

Thanks for writing in. I’m seeing the same thing happening. This is one problem. If the brothers change anything on the site it might break the workflow, which is what has happened here. I’ll see if I can figure out how to get it back working.

Hi. Thanks for the good suggestion. What app would you like to sync your highlights in?
