Workflow – Optimize your Theocratic Activity on iPhone and iPad
Our lives are busy. When not attending meetings or sharing in the field ministry, we’re often enjoying moments of personal study and Bible reading. And while our electronic devices can be a distraction, they also can help us optimize our theocratic routine. For example, rather than wasting time hunting down information on your iPhone, why not let the iPhone bring it to you? The Workflow app by DeskConnect can do just that. It’s an amazing example of how the iPhone and iPad can automate routine tasks for you. We’ve made an entire video review of Workflow already. But in this post we want to show you how to use it to make your theocratic schedule more efficient. The following video will explain how to use these workflows on your iPhone and iPad.
As shown in the above video, Workflow let’s users combine actions that the iPhone can carry out with a single tap. You can also share these workflows with friends. So here at AppChasers.com we’ve built some theocratic focused workflows that you can download straight into the Workflow app on your device. Of course, you’ll already need to own the Workflow app. You can download it here. Now check out the following workflows that we’ve described below. If you’d like to download one into Workflow, just tap on the icon.
Update: This workflow was not properly working before 12/12/2016. If you downloaded before then, please redownload now. With this workflow you can instantly see the presentations for this month’s Watchtower and Awake magazines. Simply tap play and Workflow will display this month’s KM presentations from JW.org (this has been simplified from what’s shown in the video). This is a great way to refresh your memory before heading out in service.
Update: This workflow was not properly working before 12/12/2016. If you downloaded before then, please redownload now. This workflow will search JW.org for this month’s issue of the magazine (Watchtower or Awake alternating monthly) in the Language you desire. Workflow will then download the current issue. You will then be prompted to choose between PDF and ePub format and save the file in any app you’d like. We recommend Documents by Readdle.
Update: This workflow was not properly working before 12/12/2016. If you downloaded before then, please redownload now. This workflow is similar to the Monthly Magazine workflow above. It will search JW.org for this month’s Our Christian Life and Ministry Meeting Workbook. Workflow will then ask you for the language you’d like, download it, and then prompt you to save the file in any app you’d like. You can use iBooks, but we recommend Documents by Readdle.
This Workflow will let you view the hidden descriptions of any Watchtower article photo. It can be helpful when preparing comments about a photo and wanting to make sure you’re in line with the Branch’s intent. Here Workflow pulls all the descriptions from the wol.jw.org article, combines them with their photos, and then creates a PDF for you to save or share. Read the full article here.
Sometimes we need to take a quick break while out in service. This workflow will get your current location and then present you with the following categories: Fast Food, Coffee, Grocery, or Gas Station. After you choose the desired category, Workflow will launch Apple Maps and show you the nearest pit stops.
Have you ever been out and about, or even on vacation, and want to know where the nearest Kingdom Hall is? This workfow will search for them, launch Apple Maps, and then give you driving directions from your current location.
Despite our best efforts, all of us are late at times. Are you running late to a congregation meeting or meeting for field service? This workflow will get the location of your Kingdom Hall, then get your current location, and determine the driving time between the two places. Then it will automatically create a text message to whomever you choose, telling them how long it will take you to arrive at the Hall. Once you download this into Workflow, you’ll need to add the address of your Kingdom Hall, and the contacts you’d like to send the text message to.
Variations:
Update: This workflow was not properly working before 05/12/2016. If you downloaded before then, please redownload now. Want to have the Daily Text read to you everyday? Here’s a workflow that will go to Watchtower Online Library, grab today’s scripture and comments and read them to you using your iPhone speaker. To download just tap on the “Speak Daily Text” link above.
Update: This workflow was not properly working before 05/12/2016. If you downloaded before then, please redownload now. When you run this workflow on your Apple Watch, it will go out to wol.jw.org to find today’s scripture and Watchtower comments and then display them on your Apple Watch screen. Kind of a niche workflow, but you have to admit it’s cool!
If you’re interested in listening to JW Broadcasting programs at times when you can’t watch them, this workflow is for you. Such times might include when you’re driving, exercising, whenever you don’t want to focus on a screen or drain our battery by having the screen on. Or you might like audio versions of the Music Videos available on the site. In this article, we’ll show you how to download audio versions of any videos on JW Broadcasting. And this is the workflow you’ll need to do it.
The workflows listed above are all geared toward the English language. If you would like other languages, please let us know in the comments below. We’d also like to hear your ideas for using Workflow to maximize your theocratic effectiveness. If you’ve build your own workflows, please share the download links in the comments.

April 20, 2015 @ 1:53 pm
Hey Luis. Ok cool. I’m going to be away from my computer this next week. Do you have the Workflow app? You might want to try to edit the English actions to include Spanish instead. They should be pretty easy to customize.

Is there a way to trigger workflows at the same time everyday?
For example, if I’m driving to work at 8am, M – F, can a workflow automatically start reading the news to me, or say the weather out loud without me having to open the app?
June 11, 2015 @ 3:34 pm
Yes you can do that by launching a workflow using another app called Launch Center Pro. After installing Launch Center Pro you’ll see it show up as an option when creating a workflow.

Is there a way to open an specific chapter in JW Library?
October 21, 2015 @ 1:20 am
Unfortunately, JW Library does not support URL schemes so it cannot interact with other apps.
November 13, 2015 @ 7:22 pm
Hi.. I installed some of the pre installed workflows. I followed the steps showed in the video but it doesn’t show me the play button so I can not run them. Please let me know if I’m missing something. Thank you in advance

Hi. Is this on your iPhone or iPad. From the main screen (the grid of tiles) you can also double-tap on a workflow to run it.
December 14, 2015 @ 10:38 am
Does anyone know if there is a url scheme for the JW Library app? Like going to the bible section called from a workflow?
December 14, 2015 @ 11:36 am
As far as I know, the JW Library app does not have a URL scheme yet unfortunately.
January 12, 2016 @ 5:51 pm
With the jw app. Can’t we download videos there to view without Internet or wifi???
January 12, 2016 @ 6:13 pm
Hi. In your question, which workflow are you specifically referring to?
January 12, 2016 @ 6:22 pm
The jw.tv and or kids videos etc.
January 12, 2016 @ 6:29 pm
Yes you can download them right in JW Library. These workflows convert the videos into audio.
January 12, 2016 @ 6:40 pm
Never mind… After more reading I see you are directing this app towards more audio files and not videos for offline accessibility.
Sounds like you have really created something special for the friends. Wish I could afford it myself.
Great Job! May Jehovah continue to Bless your efforts in this now Digital Spiritual World lol ??

I am glad, that I found this website. The site has good suggestions for theocratic activities. Good suggestions for applications that we can use. I like these workflows.
Continue with this good work.
Question. Is it possible with workflow to download the latest magazine and workbook (latest Awake no.1 2017; Watchtower no.2 2017; … ) (not the current month – december).
Best Regards!
Ernest

Hi Ernest. Thanks for the comment and glad you like AppChasers.com. Please try this Workflow out. It grabs the latest available magazine from JW.org.

Is that along the lines of what you’re looking for?
December 19, 2016 @ 11:30 pm
Yes I looking for this.
With this workflow i get wp and g. I want also get w. (For w in workflow I must put in “Text” action w – just as it is placed wp and g in “Text” action, but I do not know how to put “Otherwise” action to workflow)
December 20, 2016 @ 6:25 am
Hi. The “If” action includes “Otherwise” which may be what you’re looking for.
December 24, 2016 @ 3:10 pm
Sorry, but I do not know how to settings. I want to get watchtower (study edition), watchtower (public edition) and awake in one workflow.
January 18, 2017 @ 9:26 am
Hey brother. The workflow for monthly presentations is not working. Getting a bunch of ‘funky text’ Thank you!
January 18, 2017 @ 3:37 pm
Hey how are you? Thanks for letting me know. It’s working for me. Have you downloaded the latest version? Updated 12/16/16.
March 23, 2017 @ 2:08 pm
Since we are sending letters to Russia. What’s the best free app to use for having a great looking letter to send? We have many friends wanting to do. They mostly want to use a free app. There are many out there. I like PDF Expert. Just would like any suggestions you can offer. Thanks Eric! From Steve Zelenak in North Canton Congregation
March 23, 2017 @ 3:46 pm
Hi Steve. How are you? Great question. I would recommend using the Notes app for iPhone and iPad. It’s a great free and built-in option. It also now supports different font styles. It’s iCloud enabled so it will sync to all your devices. And it supports AirPrint. If you don’t have an AirPrint device, simply email the note to yourself to print on a computer. If you’d like to hand write your letter, you can do that too using the pen tool in notes. Thanks for the question!
March 23, 2017 @ 3:49 pm
Thanks Eric. Everything going well in Chinease?
January 6, 2018 @ 5:22 am
Hi.. I’m Leandro… I need a workflow to iPad. A workflow meeting mode (turn off wifi, bluetooth, airplane active, do not block to screen, and max brightness. Is it possible?
January 6, 2018 @ 8:48 am
Hi. I don’t think that’s possible using the Workflow app. The only thing in your list that it can do it change the brightness. I like your idea though.
March 1, 2018 @ 11:27 pm
Ciao cercavo un flusso di lavoro, cerca testo in Wol, Perspicacia, copiarlo, per incollarlo poi nelle note Jw Library
June 21, 2018 @ 3:21 pm
I would like a workflow for wol.jw.org.
I mark some text on a page.
Workflow should:
1. to copy this text
2. on the top put the title of the article
3. at the bottom to insert a link to this article, to this page
4. and all that to put in a clipboard
Something like copying text in Watchtower Library on Windows “Copy with Caption” + URL of webpage.
It would be good if the letters for the link (on bottom) to the page were a little smaller.
Best Regards!
June 27, 2018 @ 11:06 am
The great thing about Workflow is that with a little practice, you can make your own.
July 17, 2018 @ 5:25 am
Hi!
https://workflow.is/workflows/fb2bbdfd02874385a5a23cb7d85d565a
In first variable “Selection” links are active, they can be opened. When placed in text action, the links are no longer active.
How do I keep my links active so they can be opened?
