Mailbox – Complete your email on iPhone and iPad
While texting has probably taken over much of your mobile communication, email still holds a place in our lives. Mostly because of it’s file sharing capabilities, email won’t go away anytime soon. Yet, sometimes the amount of email we receive can be overwhelming. This is the obstacle the new Mailbox app aims to overcome. And it does an awesome job at it.
Mailbox is just one of our favorite email apps for iPhone and iPad. We’ve collected all of our favorites here. And if you’d like to see more of our top app selections in different categories, just head on over to our Best Apps Series.
The approach Mailbox takes is a rather unique one. It treats your email inbox as a to-do list. Namely, you can check off emails as you read or reply to them. This will archive them away from the inbox. If you want to delete emails, you can do that too. Maybe the best feature is the reminder tool. You can set a reminder to reply to any email. Mailbox will then archive the email away from your inbox, then remind you and bring it back to your inbox at your set time.
All of this archiving, deleting, or reminding is accomplished by a neat swipe system. Watch the video above and it will all become clear. As you can see, the whole point of Mailbox is to unclutter your inbox by archiving all your emails and only keeping the important ones. Since the app is owned by Dropbox, integration with the storage service is seamless. You can browse, choose, and attach files from your account while composing an email. Recently, Mailbox has added interactive notifications, meaning that you can archive and snooze emails right from the lock screen.
