WhoSampled for iPhone – Discover the history of your music
Have you ever listened to a new song and asked yourself, “Haven’t I heard this before?” You very well could have! For years, music artists and producers have “borrowed” parts of other songs and recycled them into there own creations. This is called sampling in the industry. It’s easy to assume that this is done only in rap music, but check out this example of Coldplay sampling Kraftwerk. WhoSampled shows you all the links that connect songs through history. The app will scan your library and present you with a list of your music or you can search for any track or artist you’d like. Tapping on a song will bring up information showing if it’s been sampled or contains a sample of another song. WhoSampled relies heavily on YouTube to play the related songs for you. The best part though, is that it tells you at what interval the songs are related. WhoSampled will have you dancing down memory lane, perhaps for hours.
