How to Save Voicemail from your iPhone to Anywhere
When was the last time you received an important voicemail message and wished you could save it? It might have been a loving greeting from a friend or family member. Or it could’ve contained special information (ala Mission Impossible) that you don’t want to self destruct.
Ever since the iPhone was released in 2007, I’ve wanted an easy way to get these invaluable voicemails saved somewhere safe. And it’s never been possible to do it easily. Until now. Yes since the release of iOS 9, we can now do it! The following video will show you how.
If you’d like to follow along with written instructions, see below.
- Open your Phone app
- Tap on the Voicemail tab on the lower right
- Tap on the voicemail message you’d like to save
- In the upper right corner, tap on the Share button (square with arrow pointing up)
- Choose how you would like to save that message (email or iMessage yourself)
With this new method, you can save your voicemails to Dropbox or other storage services. Thankfully, now you’ll never lose those precious messages from loved ones. Or those important voicemails containing pertinent information. Now, if we could just get Apple to let us easily save iMessage conversations.

Re How to save voicemail from your iPhone to anywhere article. Have iPhone 6, latest iOS. As soon as I click Voicemail icon, it dials up the voicemail. There is never any list on screen of voicemails- I have to listen and press 1, etc. So I can’t save any. I really need to get off the listen to voicemail, as I am deaf. I really want to output them in a form that I can read. Why is my iPhone voicemail different from yours? (note: newbie).

Hello. Thank you for your question. I should’ve mentioned this in the article. Only certain cellphone service providers offer what’s called “visual voicemail”. If your provider doesn’t support it, you won’t have any interface. You’ll only be able to call your voicemail and listen.
